Job Description:
Description Role Purpose: The Registered Nurse is responsible for assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care and is accountable for the outcome of such care.
Directs/oversees other licensed and unlicensed staff in the provision of patient care.
Responsibilities: A thorough and accurate admission assessment is completed and documented within two hours, including entering consults.
Performs accurate reassessments according to unit standard and patients' status.
Provides admission and ongoing assessment of patient learning barriers and needs.
Develops and updates plan of care.
Participates in multidisciplinary discharge planning.
Updates Patient Care Profile prior to next shift/transfer.
Verbalizes knowledge and demonstrates consistent use and compliance for written protocols (ie; pain, conscious sedation, skin, restraint, abuse, parental bonding, etc.
Implements plan of care/carepathways.
Administers medications/IV therapy safely and according to procedure.
Documentation is legible and utilizes correct forms and guidelines, and the content accurately reflects patient condition.
Meets discharge and ongoing patient educational needs related to treatment, procedures, disease process, equipment, and medication follow up care (utilizing available materials and resources).
Communicates changes in patient condition to physicians and necessary staff.
Demonstrates competency in all nursing procedures.
Utilizes sound judgment in both urgent and routine situations.
Evaluates and documents patient's progress for achievement of outcomes.
Reports outcome progress to responsible caregiver when leaving department or end of shift.
Performs order review at change of personnel.
Follows policy and procedure and correctly labels all laboratory specimens.
Actively involved in solving problems on the unit.
Acts as communication liaison among departments and for physicians.
Effectively supervises team members and maintains accountability for standard of care provided.
Organizes and utilizes time efficiently.
Acts as a clinical resource to other staff.
Helps foster success of new staff.
Facilitates admission, discharge, and transfer of patients in a timely manner.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
Current Missouri license as a Registered Nurse or Graduate Nurse eligible to take State Board exam for first time.
Current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare provider certification/card or must obtain within 3 months of hire.
Knowledge and skills to provide patient care appropriate to the specific department.
Ability to function effectively in stressful situations.
Awareness of changing trends in nursing practice and ability to adapt, including knowledge of Missouri Nurse Practice Act.
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
Ability and willingness to rotate shifts and adjust to necessary schedule changes.
Ability to work under supervision as well as ability to oversee others.
Basic Computer Skills.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
