Diet Clerk

Role Purpose:

The Diet Clerk works together with a registered dietician to provide quality nutritional care for patients. Understand federal, state, and local regulations for safe food handling; demonstrate knowledge of dietary restrictions; communicate and make appropriate menu substitutions; assist with identifying food ingredients for patients with special needs.

    • Follows HACCP principles of sanitation in food production. Knows and practices rules and regulations of infection control. Personal hygiene appropriate and uniform is clean. Uses gloves appropriately and follow proper hand washing technique when working with food. Wears proper hair restraint while in the department.
    • Assist with training employees; provide assistance to staff in food production, serving or cleaning activities, as needed.
    • Completes weekly cleaning assignments.
    • Take patient meal/snack orders and relay the order to the appropriate food service person.
    • Appropriately apply dietary restrictions to patient meals. Communicate and make appropriate menu substitutions.
    • Work with dietician to provide the right nutritional care for patients.
    • Assist with identifying food ingredients for patients with special needs.
    • Serves all customers in a pleasant and courteous manner with a smile. Greet all customers with names.
    • Customers are greeted cordially and not kept waiting to check out.
    • Complete appropriate documentation accurately following all policies and procedures. Coordinating and recording results of test tray meals.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Formal education in food preparation, nutrition or therapy
  • Kitchen experience

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
